Our electrical apprenticeships have been designed to develop skilled, safety-focused tradespeople and future industry leaders.
Since 2022, Tasman Power has taken a structured approach to developing the next generation of electricians, investing in the skills, experience and leadership needed to support the future of the electrical industry.
Our Apprentice Development Program combines practical on-site experience with formal training, mentoring and leadership development, preparing apprentices to become skilled, safety-conscious electricians who are ready for the demands of the industry.
Our apprentices come from diverse backgrounds, including those who have gained site experience as trade assistants before pursuing an electrical career. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are proud to support greater female participation in a traditionally male-dominated industry. We also encourage Indigenous applicants to explore apprenticeship opportunities through Yura Yarta, which places apprentices within our program.
Why Tasman Power?
An apprenticeship with Tasman Power is the start of a career, not just a qualification. Many of our apprentices continue with us after qualifying and progress into Leading Hand, Supervisor and Coordinator roles.
Safety is also central to how Tasman Power works, and it is built into the way we develop our people. Apprentices learn the standards, habits and responsibilities that keep sites safe and projects on track.
Tasman Power has given me opportunities to lead jobs and take on responsibility while still having the support of experienced people around me when I needed it. I also received great support from my apprentice mentor, particularly when it came to managing my TAFE requirements and keeping on track with my apprenticeship.
