PROJECT SUMMARY
Tasman Power was engaged to deliver the Tom Price Rail Loop – Powerline Decommissioning Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Conducted between August and September 2025, the project involved the deconstruction of overhead powerline infrastructure. The team was mobilised to site for a period of three weeks. Completed four days ahead of the scheduled shutdown window and under budget, this project highlights Tasman Power’s capability in rail and powerline infrastructure delivery, demonstrating our commitment to excellence, innovation, and exemplary service in challenging operating environments.

SERVICES PROVIDED
Tasman Power’s scope of work for the Tom Price Rail Loop – Powerline Decommissioning Project included overhead powerline deconstruction as part of sustaining capital and rail infrastructure works. The team was responsible for safely dismantling existing powerline assets within the operational rail corridor, delivering all works to the client’s specifications and high safety standards.

CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS
Shutdown activities were reduced by using rail compression barricading and vacuum excavation of pole bases outside the shutdown window.

Tight access around rail infrastructure was managed through the development of a detailed construction methodology and program prior to mobilisation, ensuring the team was well prepared for success.

Accommodation limitations required the team to travel one hour each way to and from site. Fatigue was managed by accounting for travel time in daily planning and adding resources to maintain productivity and meet timeframes.
